Taylor-Joy is one of the five children. Four of them are from Taylor's father's prior marriage. They resided at Buenos Aires up until Taylor-Joy aged 6 and then moved to Victoria district of London. According to Taylor-Joy the move was traumatic and she was unable to study English in the hopes of moving back to Argentina. Hill House was the new school she had to attend following her departure from Northlands. Then, she was enrolled at Queen's Gate School to study ballet as well as perform in productions of the school. Then she dropped out of the high school aged 16 to pursue an acting profession. The dream of Taylor-Joy to become a professional actress was born at an early age.
